Furla was incepted in 1927 when founder Aldo Furlanetto began his travels across Europe as a trader in accessories. In the Seventies, the torch was passed down to his children; Giovanna, Carlo and Paolo, and they launched the first Furla bag collection. It was an instant success. Headquartered in Bologna, Italy, Furla produces many categories of product including: handbags, shoes, small leather goods, belts, scarves, and jewelry. It has established itself as the successful international accessories brand known today.

Maintaining the tradition of a decades-long family heritage is a major priority for Furla, and Aldo's three grandsons now work in the company with Giovanna Furlanetto. In 2007, Furla appointed Paolo Fontanelli as Chief Executive Officer presiding over its Corporate office and 9 subsidiaries (USA, France, Spain, UK, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Germany, and Australia).
