Coach
This iconic American luxury company was founded in 1941, as a family-owned wholesale manufacturer of leather goods in a New York loft. It wasn't until some 20 years later that Coach introduced its own line. And what a debut it was.
Under the direction of visionary designer Bonnie Cashin, Coach revolutionized the handbag industry with a bold, contemporary style. While black and brown had been "the look," Cashin dyed leather pink, orange, yellow and green - fashioning it into bags with unexpected new shapes and textures. She also broke with tradition to create matching wallets, cosmetic bags and key fobs.
As important as style is to the Coach name, innovation and quality are company hallmarks as well. From starting with only the finest leathers, down to the most thoughtful of details, like their classic brass toggle closure. A study in both form and function, it was adapted by Cashin from the closure on the roof of her convertible car - because it quickly, easily and securely held her roof closed. Qualities she knew women would appreciate in a handbag as well. Just one of the many reasons a Coach bag is such a pleasure to carry.
